Step 1: Indian Embassy Application

You will first need to complete an application on Indian embassy website. You can access the website HERE. You will need to select the country you are applying from, in my case it was Australia.

If you are a new user:

  • You will need to register.
  • While registering remember to have embassy/ consulate relevant to you.
  • In my case it will be Australia – Melbourne

If you are a returing user:

  • Use your previous credentilas to log in
  • And if you have forgotten your passwrod (like me!) choose to reset it.

Once logged in. Select, apply for police clearance certificate

It will ask you for the following details:

  • your passport details along the purpose for application
  • If you are applying for citizenship select citizenship
  • If your applying for other visas select immigration purposes (select according to your needs)
  • It will ask you for Region/Country for which PCC is required: Select Australia
  • File number your Passports file number (this can be found at the back of your passport)

As you progress through the form you will need to provide details like:

  • Passport details
  • Applicant details (name, DOB, maritial status, Voter id/ adhar etc.)
  • Ensure to keep adhar number handy, it says if applicable but prompts to ask when you click next
  • Family Details (mother/ father/ spouse) name that’s all they need no other details
  • Permanent Address in India, with a contact number (I gave my Australian number as I did not have an Indian number)
  • It will also ask you for present address in country of Domicile. This will be your Australian address.

Once you have filled and submitted this form you will need to print it out.

  • You can do this from the dashboard.
  • Click on the application and it will give you option to print form.

Step 2: Personal Particulars Form

Download the form HERE.

  • Everyone will need this form.
  • You need to download this form, fill it out, provide your card details( if applicable) and sign.

While filling this out, here are a couple of clarification around questions:

9a: Permanent Address in India: If your address ahs changed from the passport address, then write the new indian address. (make sure to include a letter stating new address and provide proof).

9b: this will be your australian address (if you have not stayed at this add for 1 year then you will to provide previous addresses.) I only provided this and did not do anything else.

Then provide 2 references. I was told to provide references who are within 5km radius of your address.

Print this out and sign.

Step 3: Photographs

You will 2 photos – 2inch by 2inch photographs

I got mine clicked at Australia Post.

  • When asked for what I just showed them the Indian embassy form and the dimensions required

Step 4: PCC Checklist

Everyone will need to this, print out the checklist. Access it HERE.

Generally everyone will tick these:

    • For Indian nationals online form from Indian Embassay Website
    • Personal Particular Form
    • Indian nations – Submit original passport, if posting it out. Else carry it to the appointment
    • Two recent photographs for two forms to be pasted in the designated areas
    • If you are submitting in person book an appointment and tick. Take the appointment letter with you on the day of application

Step 5: Mode of Application

it is critical to decide how you will be submitting your application.

  • You can submit by Post
  • Or in person

Weather you are applying via post or in person you will need to print the following :
